I’m not so sure I can handle Batman dying. It was bad enough when Superman was killed off and then Captain America last year. I know some heroes have a way of coming back, but if you kill off Bruce Wayne then that story is done and I refuse to pay one cent for the issue where some jackass takes over as the Dark Knight. I was worried enough about whether or not the subsequent movies after The Dark Knight would survive after the Joker’s death due to overdosing, but now I have to stress over the comic.

I agree. They broke Wayne’s back, now they want to kill him. Bruce Wayne is Batman, that’s it. Without Bruce Wayne there is no Batman. And I think this is a little too soon after Heath Ledger being found dead with his connection to Batman.

Wait you mean in the Superman movie? He didn’t die! Well, he should have, but he ‘died’ like three times and every time he came back even more Superman like. That really pissed me off. If he’s dead, then he’s dead. Don’t bring him back to life again!

I’m not sure why DC Comics deiced to go this avenue with a corner stone franchise such as Batman, but they’ve made the decision to kill him off.
    That’s right!
Batman is set to die in issue #676 call “Batman R.I.P.”, which will obviously be a huge seller. Going the way that Captain America did last year, and Superman back in the late 90’s. Check the quote:
“Beginning the epic story that will change the legend of the Dark Knight forever! Everything in Grant Morrison’s groundbreaking run on Batman has been leading to this story, and nothing will ever be the same again.
Who will live? Who will die? Who will be Batman? The answers are sure to shock you in “Batman R.I.P.,” featuring artwork by Tony Daniel and Sandu Florea and covers by Alex Ross.”
I know that a death of a super hero in a comic is like Roger Clemens retiring, it doesn’t last very long. But the whole killing off a super hero has gotten old, and considering that Batman is human, it will be a lot harder explaining his return than some others. Bringing him back would somehow cheapen the whole thing, and certainly have less of an impact than if Bruce Wayne really was dead.
But Batman is Bruce Wayne, and Bruce Wayne is Batman.
How can some other character play Batman, and it still be believable? I guess I just have to read it, just like they wanted me to in the first place.

Maybe (and now I’m dating myself and most folks contributing here at Cowbell Tech) it will be like what happend in Dallas; Bruce Wayne will wake up in the next episode and say, “What a nightmare!”
    😀 😆 😀

    BATMAN 673 in stores now
There’s a lot of nice line-work by new inker, Sandu Florea. Though only about half the book is inked by Sandu, I think he made his presence felt. Naturally, as we do more issues together we’ll start to really get down our look. The way I work, my pencils are a little loose at times so I need someone who can see/feel what it is I’m intending and take it to another level. Sandu fits the bill and the result is work that looks very much detailed and complex. So we have finished 674 already and it’s the most fun issue I’ve drawn ever possibly.

    Batman #673 – Review
Now this is the Grant Morrison Batman’s been missing. Before he was kind of telling us straight up stories with some outlandish ideas thrown here and there. But this issue… well in true Morrison fashion, it’s a mind bender!

This is a pretty intense, dark story and Tony Daniel’s art style is perfectly suited for this. Batman’s messing with something called The Thogal Ritual – a form of meditation that brings its subject to the brink of death and back over a series of weeks. The issue follows him on his journey giving us flashes of hallucinations and his past. The problem is, we don’t know what’s real and what’s not. There’s definitely an underlying story going on here with Bruce dealing with murderer of his parents, but is this really happening?

Batman #673 is a puzzle, really. If you think there will be answers at the end of the issue, you’re in for a disappointment. In fact, the end (which I won’t go into), just raises more questions. It’s okay though, because there’s an enthralling mystery under all this madness, especially after all that Ras Al Ghul nonsense. (Grade: B)

Tony Daniel has improved immensely over his stay on this title, and Sandu Florea’s inks raise the game as well. I’m a huge fan of Daniel’s creepy new depiction of Bat-Mite, who Morrison is reintroducing brilliantly. Anyone who’s read the recent Newsarama interview knows just how much thought Grant has put into Batman’s life and character, and that love and understanding oozes from every pore of this page to the point where my only complaint is that it almost might be too jarring and confusing for non-longtime Batman fans. It certainly has more impact if you’ve read all the wacky ’60s stuff it’s referencing. That said, it’s a fantastic issue that continues to raise the bar on this run. Shock Value: A- -David U.

Batman #674 – Writer Grant Morrison, Pencils Tony Daniel, Inks Sandu Florea, Colors Guy Major.
We finally get the story behind the three Batmen and it is a good one that makes solid comic book sense.

The military had a contingence plan in case Batman every dies and these three men were chosen.
Batman escapes from the death trap in a classic Houdini manner and then tries to capture the Batman who took him down but is too beaten up to do so. Morrison has hit his stride with this arc and Batman has never been better. The whys & who is behind what is happening is creating a sense of menace that is rare in Batman.
Tony Daniel has rocked to the top of the charts and is right now the second best artist drawing Batman (only behind Jim Lee).
Morrison is close to crafting one hell of a definitive run on this book.

    The story so far:
When Helen, queen of Sparta, was taken across the sea to the city of Troy (aslo called Ilium) by its prince, Paris, her husband Menelaus raised a large Achaean (Greek) force, led by his brother King Agamemnon, to bring her back. In the war’s ninth year, Agamemnon offended proud Achilles and the greatest of heroes vowed to fight no more till the matter was redressed. His goddess-mother Thetis persuaded Zeus, king of the gods, to favor the Achaeans in battle for a time.
At times, the Olympian gods took sides in the war – Apollo and Aphrodite favoring the Trojans, Hera and Athena the Argives (Greeks). At last Zeus forbade any gods to take part in combat, and he turned the tide of battle temporarily in favor of Troy and her allies. The Achaeans were driven behind their ship-wall, and pleas to Achilles to return to the fray fell on deaf ears. It seemed that Hector, Troy’s greatest warrior, might burn the Achaeans’ ships and doom the invaders…

Sandu a fost remarcat ca inker si pentru DEADPOOL.
Deadpool is a fictional comic book character sometimes depicted as a mercenary or antihero; he appears in books published by Marvel Comics, originally in the X-Men family of titles, but branching out into the more mainstream Marvel Universe in recent years. Created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool first appeared in The New Mutants #98 (February 1991).

Nicknamed the “Merc with a Mouth”, Deadpool is a high-tech mercenary known for his wisecracks, black comedy, and satirical pop-culture references. Like the X-Men’s Wolverine, Deadpool is the product of the Canadian government’s paramilitary Weapon X program, although his place of birth is unknown. After Weapon X cured his terminal cancer by implementing a regenerative “healing factor” extracted from Wolverine, Deadpool is left disfigured and mentally unstable.

Deadpool was originally an adversary of The New Mutants and later X-Force. Deadpool received two limited series: Sins of the Past and The Circle Chase. He graduated to an ongoing series in 1997, which was known for its slapstick tone and willingness to break the fourth wall.

Deadpool will appear in the upcoming 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine in which he will be played by Ryan Reynolds. Wizard Magazine ranked Deadpool the 182nd best comic book character of all time, of their list of the Top 200 Comic Book Characters of All Time. [2] Empire has also rated him as the 45th best comic character of all time.

    O constanta, Sandu Florea 😉
fragment dintr-un review la nr. 2:
“Battle for the Cowl continues the fast paced cage match infighting between the good guys and bad guys, but this series feels a lot like those realistic wrestling matches on the boob tube with the mantle of the Bat the grand prize. I’m giving points for lots of popcorn action, fantastic art by Sandu Florea…”

Can Tony Daniel put Batman’s solo series back on track?
    by Joey Esposito

…As always, Daniel’s pencil work with Sandu Florea on inks is phenomenal. True to form, his Batman is at his best when he’s scowling or looking otherwise grim, but the action is always intense and exciting, and his layouts kinetic but rather simple. The collaboration with Florea really perpetuates his style; he loves shadows and contrast, as well as going very line heavy when doing closeup panels. Someday I would kill to see a black and white book put out by this art team. There are many points throughout this issue that would work great in that format, especially for the kind of tale Daniel seems intent on telling.

If you had Winickphobia and passed up Batman previously, I can assure you that things will be moving forward from now on, and it all starts in Batman #692.
